The Samsung Galaxy S25 series, anticipated to launch in January 2025, is set to feature a premium model, the Galaxy S25 Ultra, which is said to support Android’s A/B over-the-air (OTA) update system.
According to Android Authority, leaked files indicate that this model will enable seamless software updates, allowing users to operate their devices during updates without downtime.
This system creates two separate partitions, ‘A’ and ‘B,’ on the device’s storage. Updates are installed on the inactive ‘B’ partition while the phone continues to run on the ‘A’ partition. This method minimises disruption and safeguards the device against errors during the update process by allowing it to revert to the original OS if necessary.
The entire S25 line, including the Galaxy S25 and S25 Plus, will likely incorporate this seamless update capability.
