The minimum amount of sadqa-e-fitr or fitrana has been fixed at Rs 100 per head this year, which is paid to the poor and the needy before Eidul Fitr, said Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Chairman, Mufti Muneebur Rehman.
Mufti Muneebur Rahman said that according to the wheat price the amount of fitrana has been calculated at Rs100 per head and 30 days of fidya amount to Rs3000.
He said that the affluent could pay fitrana and fidya in accordance with their financial status.
He also said, “before the Eid prayer, every adult Muslim who possesses food in excess of his needs and those of his family must pay fitrana.
If the person is a breadwinner, he should also pay sadqa-e-fitr for his dependants, such as his wife, children, dependent relatives or servants.”
