Former porn actor Ron Jeremy was pronounced incompetent, escaped prosecution and more than 300 years sentence.
Jeremy, a 1980s and 1990s porn “star,” was arrested in June 2020 on 33 counts of rape and sexual assault.
After Ron Jeremy’s mental health was questioned in a lengthy trial for rape and other sex offenses, Judge Ronald S. Harris, Los Angeles Superior Court, pronounced Jeremy, 69, “incurable neurocognitive impairment.” and “would most likely not be restorable” due to Jeremy’s mental state based on examinations.
Jeremy might have been sentenced to almost 300 years if found guilty. However, on February 7, a hearing will decide the former porn actor’s fate in DTLA’s Twin Towers Correctional Facility.
Judge Harris will decide whether to commit Jeremy to a state mental health hospital, how limited he will be, and whether he is a danger to himself or others.
After medical evaluations, prosecutors and defense attorneys received a prognosis of incompetence, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Jeremy’s psychological evaluations began in March 2022, weeks before the trial.
“When he was detained two years ago, I said he would be found not guilty on all counts,” Jeremy’s attorney Stuart Goldfarb told Deadline Tuesday.
