Choreographer Remo D’Souza, his wife Lizelle and five others have been accused of defrauding a dance troupe of ₹11.96 crore.
A case has been registered in Maharashtra’s Thane district, which emerged from allegations involving the misappropriation of prize money won by the troupe in a television show.
The complaint, lodged by a 26-year-old dancer at the Mira Road police station on October 16, includes charges under IPC sections 465 (forgery) and 420 (cheating), among others.
According to the FIR, from 2018 to July 2024, the complainant and his dance group were deceived when D’Souza and the co-accused allegedly claimed ownership of the troupe and subsequently took the ₹11.96 crore prize money they had won.
The additional accused in the case are Omprakash Shankar Chouhan, Rohit Jadhav of Frame Production Company, policeman Vinod Raut, and Ramesh Gupta. Authorities have stated that an investigation is currently being conducted.
