Remittances to Roshan Digital Accounts Surge to $8.055 Billion
According to recent figures from the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), remittances through Roshan Digital Accounts (RDA) increased to US $8.055 billion by the end of May 2024, up from US $7.831 billion at the end of April 2024. The remittance inflow for April alone was US $224 million, rising from US $171 million in March to US $182 million in February 2024.
The RDA program offers innovative banking solutions for millions of Non-Resident Pakistanis (NRPs), including those holding Non-Resident Pakistan Origin Cards (POCs). It facilitates various banking, payment, and investment activities in Pakistan.
The number of accounts under this program also significantly increased, reaching 702,610 in May 2024—an addition of 12,960 accounts from April 2024.
By the end of May, overseas Pakistanis had invested US $338 million in Naya Pakistan Certificates, US $582 million in Naya Pakistan Islamic Certificates, and US $37 million in Roshan Equity Investments through these accounts.
The SBP introduced the Roshan Digital Account to streamline the process for overseas Pakistanis to send remittances and invest back home.
