A private hospital in Rawalpindi is alleged to have kept a deceased patient on a ventilator for three days, accumulating substantial medical charges.

The incident involved 13-year-old Syed Zohaib Shah, who was under treatment at the hospital. Despite passing away post-operation, the hospital’s staff transferred him to a ventilator.

The family of Zohaib reported that the hospital falsely informed them that he was alive to secure the payment of the operation fee, which was 250,000 rupees.

For three days, the medical staff maintained that the boy was still alive, coercing the family to settle the medical fees. Only after receiving the payment did the hospital reveal that Zohaib had passed away. This has raised serious ethical and legal concerns regarding the hospital’s practices.
