Samiullah Khan, the husband of Uzma Bukhari, Punjab’s Provincial Minister for Information and Culture, and a Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA), was arrested today on charges of electricity theft.
According to a report by Express News, following apprehension, Khan, along with Rafaqat Wahla and other associates, is accused of launching a violent assault on the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) of the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) and his team.
The assault, led by Samiullah Khan’s associates, specifically targeted the staff of the Jiya Mosi Sub-Division, which is under the jurisdiction of the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA). Due to the severity of the attack, the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) felt compelled to file an official complaint against Khan and associates at the Shahdara Police Station.
Subsequently, video footage documenting the brutal assault carried out by Rafaqat Wahla and his group was released to the public. The footage has elicited widespread outrage, underscoring the violent reaction to law enforcement’s crackdown on illegal activities like electricity theft.
The incident has not only highlighted the risks faced by public utility workers but also raised pressing concerns regarding the enforcement of law and order and its implications for societal stability.
