The Punjab government has introduced an e-cattle system, an official online portal designed to facilitate the purchase of sacrificial animals directly from home ahead of Eidul Adha.
The Punjab IT Board has developed the e-Cattle Market System for the Punjab Cattle Market Management & Development Company, enabling citizens throughout Punjab to register and sell their cattle online.
The innovative portal provides detailed listings of the cattle for sale, including photographs, age, weight, species, breed, price, and other crucial information about each animal. This system streamlines buying and selling cattle, making it more accessible and efficient for users across the region.
Punjab Cattle Market Management officials have confirmed that the portal is secured for transactions, necessitating buyers’ and sellers’ ID card numbers to ensure safety and transparency.

The MET office notes that Eidul Adha 2024’s date depends on the lunar calendar. If Zilqad ends after 29 days, Zilhajj begins on June 8, with Eidul Adha on June 17. If Zilqad lasts 30 days, Zilhajj starts on June 9, and Eidul Adha is on June 18. The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will confirm the date after the moon sighting.
