Chief Minister Punjab Mariam Nawaz Sharif has announced that the Punjab government will financially support individuals constructing homes up to five marlas.
Chief Minister Mariam Nawaz Sharif officially signed the Punjab budget documents for the fiscal year 2024-25 and pledged to simplify citizens’ lives through strategic financial planning. Highlighting her administration’s commitment to bolstering the province’s fiscal strength, she assured the public of her team’s unwavering dedication to achieving these objectives.
Sharif assured that the new budget would not impose additional taxes on the public. Instead, the focus will be on boosting revenue through existing sources. She outlined significant initiatives, including the consolidation of water supply and drainage services under one department, the provision of livestock to farmers in South Punjab, and the allocation of funds for the construction of homes of up to five marlas to support lower-income families.
The Punjab Cabinet has greenlit a substantial budget of PKR 5,446 billion for the upcoming fiscal year, aiming for a 53% increase in revenue, from a previous target of PKR 624 billion to a new goal of PKR 960 billion. This increase is expected through internal efficiencies and enhanced collection mechanisms by the Punjab Revenue Department.
