In defiance of Governor Baligh ur Rehman’s direction, Punjab Assembly Speaker Sibtain Khan has ruled against a session on December 21 for a vote of confidence.
Provincial Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Raja Basharat announced that Punjab Assembly (PA) Speaker Sibtain Khan has ruled against Governor Baligh ur Rehman’s directive convene a session on December 21.
“According to the judgment, the Governor may not convene a session for the Chief Minister to seek a vote of confidence from the provincial parliament,” Raha Basharat explained. In addition, the Assembly Secretariat did not announce a session for December 21.
According to sources within the PTI, the validity of the initiative to have a vote of confidence ceased with the passage of the verdict.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has resolved to vote on the motion of no confidence tabled against Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi. However, before the vote, a joint meeting of the PTI and PML-Q would be conducted.
