Ali Amin Gandapur, a leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the party’s nominee for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s chief minister, has organized a protest in Peshawar against the rigged results from the recent general elections. He reaffirmed his commitment to pursuing legal remedies.
Gandapur won in the NA-44 (Dera Ismail Khan-I) and PK-113 constituencies and convened a strategy session with fellow PTI victors, previous candidates, and other party officials from Peshawar to address several political matters.
Gandapur, having arrived in Peshawar the day before, hosted this initial meeting at the speaker’s residence. The assembly resulted in a decision to hold a protest rally against the purported election fraud, scheduled for Saturday at 2 pm on Ring Road.
In the wake of his father’s passing, KP Chief Secretary Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry and Inspector General of Police Akhtar Hayat Gandapur visited to offer their sympathies.
The gathering also welcomed eight PTI candidates who were initially declared winners based on Form 45 but were later deemed unsuccessful after alterations to Form 47 by district and returning officers.
Kamran Bangash, a participant and former minister, emphasized that the meeting focused solely on party matters, excluding discussions on government formation, cabinet appointments, or portfolio distribution. He underlined Gandapur’s pledge to exhaust all avenues to reclaim the electorate’s mandate for Peshawar.
Despite circulating rumours about Gandapur’s cabinet selections, including assignments for Jhagra and Bangash as advisors and other roles within a 15-member cabinet, Bangash refuted these claims, stating no such decisions were made during their meeting.
