The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party issued a show-cause notice to leader Sher Afzal Marwat on Saturday, citing violations of its code of conduct and policy. The PTI’s central secretariat declared that Marwat had made “irresponsible statements” damaging the party’s reputation despite clear directives from founder Imran Khan.
The notice highlighted that Marwat’s actions and words had adversely affected relationships with fellow party members and other stakeholders. The PTI central secretariat has now demanded that Marwat submit a written explanation within three days, justifying why he should not face disciplinary measures.
The notice warned, “If your reply is unsatisfactory or you do not respond, further action will be taken as per party policy and rules.”
Marwat, known for his outspoken and often controversial comments, has frequently clashed with other PTI leaders, including Taimur Khan Jhagra, Omar Ayub, and Shibli Faraz.
On May 9, Omar Ayub announced that PTI had removed Marwat from its core and political committees following Imran Khan’s directives. Ayub noted that Marwat had been repeatedly warned against breaching party policies. He also mentioned that Khan had accused Marwat of attempting to undermine his relationships with Saudi Arabia.

In a related development, PTI has appointed Sheikh Waqas Akram to replace Marwat as the candidate for the National Assembly’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairman.
