Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), claimed that President Arif Alvi is expected to extend an invitation to PTI for government formation due to their majority win in the National Assembly.
“Our aim is progress, adhering to constitutional and legal frameworks for government formation,” Gohar Khan stated during a media briefing in Islamabad following obtaining a majority in the national assembly.
He highlighted the electoral process’s integrity, noting the transparent counting and documentation of votes via Form 45. “The economic stability hinges on acknowledging the public’s choice and avoiding unwarranted hindrances to PTI’s governance. Immediate result declaration based on Form 45, which we have duly received, is imperative,” he emphasized.
Gohar Khan also touched upon the allegiance of independent candidates to PTI, foreseeing a government under PTI’s leadership. He announced plans for intra-party elections within 15 days of the process’ completion, citing a substantial public mandate in PTI’s favor and dismissing all legal actions against the PTI founder as baseless.
Discussions on reserved seats and potential alliances are underway, with plans for peaceful protests in areas where results have been delayed. “Protests are a right, yet they must remain peaceful,” Gohar Khan advised.
Alleging attempts to undermine their victory in certain constituencies, he claimed PTI secured 170 seats, including a significant win in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, surpassing the expected tally. Decisions regarding the chief ministerial candidates for Punjab will be finalized within two days, as PTI anticipates forming the government there as well.
