Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party terminate the basic memberships of 22 South Punjab leaders, including former Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar and previous Federal Minister Khusro Bakhtiar. This decision was due to these members violating the party’s policy. If these individuals utilise the party’s name or their previous designations, they have been cautioned of potential legal action.
The termination notice, which simultaneously resulted in the suspension of their party memberships, was issued by PTI Secretary General Omar Ayub Khan. The departures from PTI include significant party figures who left the party following accusations of involvement in the riots sparked by the arrest of party leader Imran Khan by the Rangers. The graft case arrest occurred at the premises of the Islamabad High Court on May 9.
In June, Buzdar publicly exited politics and denounced the May 9 riots, while Bakhtiar also stepped down from his positions within the party.
