The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) announced the launch of a detailed cyber security strategy for the nation’s telecom sector, covering the period from 2023 to 2028.
The strategic plan represents a significant milestone in executing the National Cyber Security Policy – 2021 and is a crucial step toward enhancing digital security in Pakistan’s rapidly growing telecom industry.
The PTA’s strategy is structured around six key pillars, each focusing on a vital element of cyber security. These pillars include developing a robust legal framework, enhancing cyber resilience, proactive monitoring and incident response, capacity building, fostering cooperation and collaboration, and raising public awareness. This multifaceted approach addresses the challenges and demands of cyber security in telecommunications.
A central feature of this strategy is promoting a multi-stakeholder approach, encouraging active participation from various sectors. This collaborative model involves the public and private sectors, regulatory authorities, telecom operators, private security firms, academic institutions, and civil society. The initiative signifies more than just an advancement in cyber security measures; it represents a significant leap toward establishing a digitally secure and resilient Pakistan prepared to face the challenges of an increasingly digital world.
