On Tuesday, a prominent lawyer, identified as Advocate Abdul Razzaq Shar, was gunned down by unidentified assailants near Quetta’s airport road. According to initial investigations, Shar was en route to the Balochistan High Court (BHC) and was deliberately targeted and murdered.
Law enforcement agencies swiftly secured the scene upon hearing of the incident. Shar’s body was promptly transferred to a local hospital for additional examinations and to perform necessary legal procedures.
Notably, Shar had filed a significant petition against the Chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, seeking action under Article 6 of the Constitution regarding the dissolution of the Constituent Assembly.
In response to this shocking act, the legal community has boycotted court proceedings as a form of protest, demanding the immediate apprehension and trial of those responsible.
Balochistan’s Chief Minister has expressed concern over the incident and directed a thorough investigation into all facets of the case.
The Chief Minister also instructed the Inspector General (IG) of Police to promptly furnish a detailed report on the incident, stressing the importance of swiftly bringing the culprits to justice.
