In the early morning of March 16, six terrorists targeted a security checkpoint in Mir Ali, North Waziristan District.

The troops repelled the initial assault. However, the attackers then detonated an explosive-laden vehicle at the post and launched multiple suicide bombings. This attack caused part of a building to collapse and led to the martyrdom of five soldiers.
