At his inaugural ball, President Donald Trump performed a sword dance while slicing the ceremonial cake, which involved a military sword, raising eyebrows and attracting the attention of Secret Service agents.
As the Village People’s “Y.M.C.A.” played in the background, President Trump began to dance, prompting laughter and some nervous glances from the Secret Service. First Lady Melania Trump, also present, joined in the dancing.
Vice President JD Vance and his wife, Usha Vance, shared the stage with the first couple. Vance humorously remarked that the Secret Service was becoming “very nervous” due to the President’s lively antics.
The President and Melania received a thunderous welcome at the ball. President Trump, dressed in a tuxedo, and the First Lady, wearing a stunning white sleeveless gown with black zig-zag patterning and a thick black choker necklace adorned with a floral-shaped silver jewel, made a striking pair.
The evening began with the Trumps swaying to Elvis’s “American Trilogy” at the Commander in Chief Ball. After the festivities, President Trump returned to the White House on Monday and immediately held an impromptu 50-minute press conference in the Oval Office.
Trump expressed immense satisfaction when asked about his return to the Oval Office, saying, “What a great feeling. It’s one of the better feelings I’ve ever had.”
In his first executive action after taking office, Trump repealed several executive orders that promoted LGBTQ equality, introduced new ones that recognized only two genders and ended government diversity programs. On the campaign trail, Trump had strongly criticized diversity, equity, and inclusion policies in the federal government and the corporate sector, claiming they discriminated against white men.
