On Star Wars Day, United States President Joe Biden was dubbed “Joe-B-Wan Kenobi.”
The playful nickname “Joe-B-Wan Kenobi” was inspired by the iconic Jedi master from the Star Wars franchise. Mark Hamill, the celebrated actor known for his role as Luke Skywalker, bestowed this name upon President Joe Biden.
At 81, Biden welcomed Hamill, aged 72, to the White House this past Friday. Following their meeting, Hamill ventured into the White House briefing room. There, he showcased a pair of aviator glasses—a gift from Biden—and shared his new nickname for the President with the reporters gathered.
Hamill’s visit to the Oval Office was his first. He recounted their exchange, noting, “I called him ‘Mr. President.’ He said, ‘You can call me Joe.'” Hamill then asked if he could call him “Joe-B-Wan Kenobi,” to which the President responded positively.
In addition to revealing the nickname, Hamill spoke about Biden’s legislative achievements. The actor, a vocal critic of former president Donald Trump, expressed his gratitude. He remarked on the profound influence and positivity that one individual can have.
