While talking to journalists at Punjab Governor House in Lahore, President Alvi revealed that early elections through negotiations between the coalition government and the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Indaf (PTI) have failed.
President Alvi stressed the need for early elections due to the ongoing political situation in the county.
The President confirmed that he was in contact with the establishment to resolve the matters effectively and to remove the differences between the institutions.
President Alvi responding to a question said he was making all the efforts to improve ties between Imran Khan and the establishment.
President Alvi termed Imran Khan as his leader and old friend.
He also stressed the need for improvement in the state institutions, as Institutions are being used politically.”
The President added that although the constitution does not allow consultation on the appointment of the army chief, there is no harm in discussing the appointment of the chief of army staff.
