On Monday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif commanded the relevant authorities to guarantee continuous gas and power during Ramazan.
He stressed support for the private sector and investors in gas, oil exploration, and resource distribution. During a petroleum sector meeting, Sharif highlighted the government’s role in facilitating private enterprise and protecting consumer rights. He also stressed the importance of exploring maritime resources and enhancing petroleum refining capacity to address circular debt and losses in the gas sector.
He mandated the monitoring of LPG distribution to keep prices low and urged for energy-efficient practices in the industrial sector and among domestic users. Sharif requested reports on energy conservation efforts and demanded improvements in the energy sector’s administrative framework. He called for strategies on energy reform and mineral resource management to bolster exports and conserve foreign exchange by localizing exploration.
The meeting underscored the urgency of energy sector reforms and ongoing consultations for the LPG Policy 2024, focusing on foreign investment interests and energy and mineral sector overviews.
