Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has voiced Pakistan’s concerns to the United States regarding India’s ceasefire violations on the Line of Control (LoC) and Working Boundary.
The Premier raised the issue with US Secretary of State John Kerry who called on him on the side-lines of the 70th UN General Assembly session in New York.
The US secretary of State appreciated the operation Zarb-Azb as Nawaz briefed him about its achievements. He reaffirmed US support to Pakistan on war against terror.
The meeting took place ahead of summit on peacekeeping forces that would be co-chaired by the prime minister and will be hosted by US President Barack Obama.
Kerry refreshed invitation to the PM for visit to Washington next month.
Sartaj Aziz, Ishaq Dar, Dr Maleeha Lodhi and Tariq Fatemi were also present on the occasion.
Talking to newsmen after the meeting, Acting Representative of United States for Pakistan and Afghanistan Laurell Miller said the United States urges both Pakistan and India to engage in a dialogue and take steps to de-escalate tension on the borders.
She said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had an excellent meeting with Secretary of State John Kerry where they talked about the whole range of issues on the common agenda.
