Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif reached London to attend London Conference on Afghanistan, co-hosted by co-hosted by the governments of the UK and Afghanistan, to be held on December 4.
Events associated with the conference will take place during the afternoon and evening of December 3 (Wednesday).
The conference intends to provide a platform to Afghan government to embark its vision for reform and for the international community to demonstrate enduring solidarity and support for Afghanistan. Discussions are likely to focus on security and big-ticket economic and governance reforms.
London Conference on Afghanistan is to continue for two days. The conference is to be co-hosted by the UK and Afghan governments. President Ashraf Ghani and Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah would represent Afghanistan at the conference.
Prime Minister Nawaz would also hold bilateral discussions with the British leadership in addition to meeting with World Bank officials.
The Prime Minister’s participation in the London Conference would reflect the importance that Pakistan attaches to international efforts for peace, stability and economic development in Afghanistan.
