In Lahore, prominent playwright Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar was recently the victim of a kidnapping and robbery incident.
During this ordeal, the perpetrators compelled him to execute financial transactions. Additionally, they absconded with a substantial amount of cash, his mobile phone, watch, and other personal items, cumulatively valued in the hundreds of thousands of rupees.
Following the abduction, Qamar was released after a ransom was paid, according to police sources referencing individuals close to the playwright.
The police report indicates that Qamar was abducted several days ago by an organized criminal group. The kidnappers subjected him to physical violence, extracted a significant ransom, and subsequently released him. Despite the severity of the incident, Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar has yet to file an official complaint with the authorities.
He has verbally communicated the event details to the police through a senior officer. Sources suggest that Qamar is currently hesitant to initiate formal legal proceedings.
Efforts by the police to encourage Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar to partake in legal action against his abductors are ongoing.
