Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has issued a show-cause notice to Javed Iqbal Bajwa, its Deputy Station Manager in Birmingham, after discovering his intermediate certificate was fraudulent.
A PIA spokesperson said the airline verified Bajwa’s educational credentials with the relevant boards, which confirmed the certificate’s falsity.
Bajwa must submit a written response and verify his certificate’s authenticity within seven days. The show-cause notice warns that failure to respond appropriately could lead to disciplinary measures.
Separately, PIA addressed a recent incident involving the arrest of its country manager in Bahrain, accused of removing passengers’ luggage. The Pakistani embassy in Bahrain described the incident as a misunderstanding, noting no criminal intent.
The spokesperson explained that due to the absence of a PIA office at Bahrain airport, unclaimed luggage was moved to the city’s central office and later returned to its rightful owners.
PIA has secured legal support from the Pakistani embassy to assist the affected officer, and senior officers have been appointed to represent the case in court. The arrest occurred after allegations that the PIA country manager in Bahrain had unlawfully taken passengers’ luggage, a serious offence under Bahrain’s airport laws.
