Lahore: The third day of the PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week 2015 was held on Monday at the Expo Centre. Day 3 featured a whole dedicated day of evening Voile Shows with Gul Ahmed, Shubinak, Warda Prints, Alkaram Studio, Harmony and House of Ittehad.
Gul Ahmed began the show with their collection titled Flourishing Journey of Prints, where the retail brand emerged from their everyday casual wear to that of a statement ensemble. Evening gowns, flair skirts, capri pants paired with short blouses and jackets, glamorous cotton tops with minimal accessories were some key features of the collection. Using a wider range colours, we loved the monochrome evening ball gowns replete with elaborate embroidery and thread work.
Textile brand Shubinak was up next with their collection titled Pakistan United. Displaying a casual and an earthy element to their collection, women in harem pants with loose-fitting blouses, completing the look with chunky accessories and cloth bags could be seen. A subtle colour tone was dominant throughout the collection that involved beige, green, off white and burnt orange.
One of the leading retail lawn brands Warda Prints was next with their collection Chromatic Ecstasy. Hot pink short dresses, a vibrant colour palette, evening gowns made of pleated chiffons quickly turning into a collection consisting of a subtle colour palette, Warda Prints displayed something for everyone; the lively and the sober.
Acclaimed retail brand Al Karam Studio was next with their collection titled Savoir Vivre. What fantastic prints! We loved the cotton kurtis paired with blue pants for men, sundresses for girls, a bright colour palette and cotton tops for women. Renowned music personality Mustafa Zahid of Roxen fame walked the ramp as the brand’s celebrity showstopper.
After Alkaram Studio, Harmony showcased its Summer Rhythm collection. The brand showed a variety of coloured kurtas for men with plain white cotton pants, and for women, heavily sequined tops and skirts, lawn shirts with sequin and gota borders. Jumpsuits paired with bandanas were some of the key features of the collection. We would like to applaud Harmony for at least displaying a collection, which was different in its appeal and remained a memorable one for its quirkiness.
House of Ittehad with their Summer Rouge collection stood out for their signature elaborate design philosophy, digital prints, a subdued colour palette consisting of hot pink, burnt orange and mauve. Kurtas for women with lace fronts and light sequins were beautifully done. Very marketable and wearable, seeming right off the rack. Kolhapuri chappals for men made heads turn. HOI also showcased their menswear line I-Man.
Day 4 is awaited.
