The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has issued a directive to television channels banning the broadcast of news about ongoing court cases.

In a formal statement, PEMRA instructed media outlets to cease covering judicial proceedings until a final verdict is rendered.

PEMRA emphasized that broadcasts should only include information contributing to the public interest and enhancing understanding of the cases under consideration. Additionally, the authority has cautioned against including discussions in television programs that could potentially influence the outcomes of judicial proceedings or ongoing investigations.

PEMRA has provided guidelines to all television channels to ensure compliance with this directive, explicitly instructing them to avoid forming or expressing opinions about cases currently subject to judicial review.
