Following the US House’s call for an investigation into Pakistan’s elections, the National Assembly rebuked this as unfounded and intrusive. The resolution, initiated by PML-N’s Shaista Pervaiz Malik, passed amid vocal opposition protests. It defended Pakistan’s electoral integrity and sovereignty, stressing the importance of respectful bilateral relations.
Shaista criticized the US resolution as misinformed and undermining Pakistan’s democratic processes. The resolution also called for the US to address rights violations in Gaza and Kashmir.
PTI and SIC members expressed dissent loudly in Parliament. Outside Parliament, PTI’s Barrister Gohar Ali Khan remarked that the government misunderstood the US resolution and was not an external intervention.
