Pakistani television and film actor Imran Abbas after recently hosted the Big STAR Entertainment Awards in Mumbai.
The actor hosted the awards alongside Indian comedian and actor Sunil Grover who is renowned for his character Gutthi on the Indian comedy show Comedy Nights with Kapil. This was the first time two actors from two different countries came together to host these award, according to a press release.
The Big STAR Entertainment awards are held annually to commemorate the best in film, music, television, sports, theatre and dance. The award show is completely viewer-driven starting from the nominations process to selecting the winners as it aims to celebrate entertainment the way audiences enjoy it.
Speaking of the 5th edition of the awards, CEO, Reliance Broadcast Network, Tarun Katial said, “The awards and our partnership with Star Plus has matured wonderfully and we are happy to once again bring together a congregation of the finest entertainers from across industries.”
Imran Abbas, who made his Bollywood debut opposite Bipasha Basu in Vikram Bhatt’s Creature 3D, recently finished shooting for his next Bollywood release, Raqs. The film has been directed by Umrao Jaan’s director Muzaffar Ali and also features actor Pernia Qureshi. Renowned Pakistani classical singer Ustaad Shafqat Ali Khan has recorded playback songs fro the movie.
This is not the first instance of a Pakistani actor hosting an awards ceremonyin India. Singer-actor Ali Zafar hosted the Star Box Office Awards in October earlier this year.
