Pakistan’s federal cabinet has endorsed the Rightsizing Cabinet Committee’s recommendations to consolidate 82 government departments into 40.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif led the meeting and approved the merger of government departments, and six ministries have implemented these recommendations.
The cabinet has approved merging and dissolution strategies of these departments to streamline operations and enhance government efficiency. Additionally, a committee has been established to safeguard the interests of employees impacted by these organizational changes.

The cabinet emphasized that this restructuring would focus on digitization, smart management, efficient governance, transparent and swift project execution, and enhanced service delivery to the public.
The primary goal of the first phase is to optimize human resources, streamline policy-making processes, reduce decision-making delays, and reinforce crucial departments to improve overall governmental performance.
