Pakistani film playback singer A. Nayyar passed away on Saturday night after a prolonged illness.
According to family sources, Nayar, 66, died due to heart attack. The deceased left behind three grieving daughters and widow.
Nayar was born on September 17, 1950, Arthur Nayyar shot to fame after his singing debut in 1974 film Bahisht. His first film song Yunhin din cut jayen, yuhin shaam dhal jaye was a duet song with Rubina Badar in film Bahisht (1974), composed by A. Hameed.
He won Nigar Award for best playback film singer in 1979, 1985, 1989 and 1991.
Nayyar and Akhlaq Ahmed remained dominant playback singers of Pakistani film industry in the 1980s. He ran a music academy in Lahore.
In a press statement, President Mamnoon Hussain Friday expressed his condolence over the sad demise of renowned singer A. Nayyar.
The president also applaud the services of late A. Nayyar in the field of music would be remembered for long.
