Well known Pakistani war monger and commentator Zaid Hamid announced earlier today that he has returned to Pakistan, months after he was convicted in Saudi Arabia.
“I am back in Pakistan with dignity and in good health, arrived last night. Resting now and not taking calls,” Hamid said in a tweet.
In a message shared on his official Facebook page, the analyst and said, “Released without charge and honourably sent back home last night.”
Sharing that his cell phones are off, the Facebook message said Hamid now plans to rest and needs some private time with his family and will not be accommodating any visitors or phone calls. Neither will he make any public statement for now.
Hamid, also known as the ” Laal topi wala maskhara” ( rad capped clown) amongst the cynical classes, was arrested in Saudi Arabia in June 2015, during a private visit to the Kingdom with his wife for making speeches against the Saudi government.
Pakistan had been asking Saudi Arabia for consular access to analyst and commentator Zaid Hamid. After numerous efforts of the embassy, his wife was able to talk to him. It was not known exactly how a convicted prisoner managed to secure his release from the notoriously merciless Saudis.
