The State Bank of Pakistan has been mandated to reprint all currency notes due to significant spelling and grammatical errors identified on them.
The errors were brought to light by researcher and scholar Shehzad Faizi, who discovered six mistakes in the text on the notes.
Faizi filed a complaint with the Federal Ombudsman, leading to a formal acknowledgement of these errors by representatives from the State Bank during the hearing.
In response, the Federal Ombudsman has ordered the State Bank to correct these errors and issue new currency notes within 60 days. This directive aims to ensure that such mistakes do not recur.
Faizi stressed the enduring impact of written words over spoken ones, noting their significant role in disseminating knowledge and preserving heritage. He emphasized that currency notes represent national identity, underscoring the urgency of swiftly implementing the Federal Ombudsman’s decision to address the errors within the four lines of text on the notes.
