The Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association (PPDA) convened urgently today to strategize on their ongoing national strike.
Set for 6 pm, this assembly will assess whether to prolong the strike.
PPDA Chairman Abdul Sami Khan confirmed that discussions with authorities are yet to occur.
He noted Karachi’s 525 petrol stations, with only certain ones operational.
He stated that Karachi’s daily fuel sales range between 3.5 and 4 million litres. Earlier, dealers protested new federal budget taxes, leading to partial closures.
The protest, which impacted approximately 13,000 stations, started at 6 a.m. Despite closures in Karachi, operations continued on key roads.
Conversely, Lahore stations largely ignored the strike.
Directives from the Petroleum Division and OGRA mandated station operations. OGRA’s Imran Ghaznavi, collaborating with the Petroleum Division, ensured the availability of fuel nationwide.
