The Met Office has predicted heatwave conditions in Pakistan starting on April 13, 2025, due to a high-pressure system.
As a result, temperatures in the southern regions, specifically Sindh, Southern Punjab, and Balochistan could rise by 6 to 8°C above normal from April 13 to 18. In contrast, the upper regions, which include central Punjab, Islamabad, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, may experience temperature increases of 4 to 6°C from April 14 to 18.
Consequently, the heatwave in Pakistan presents significant risks. The Met Office has issued warnings about possible dust storms or windstorms due to extreme heat. Vulnerable structures, such as poles, trees, and solar panels, may sustain damage.

Authorities advise caution, particularly for children, women, and seniors who should avoid direct sunlight. Regularly drinking water is essential for staying hydrated. Given the potential dangers of heat, these measures are crucial during the forecast period.

The northern areas are facing an additional concern. Rising temperatures could accelerate snowmelt between April 14 and April 18, potentially impacting water systems and travel. Moreover, scientists have connected early heatwaves to climate change, warning that more than one billion people in South Asia are at risk of heat-related effects.
