The government of Pakistan is contemplating a policy to increase the age limit for applicants to government jobs.
Sources claim that a summary recommending that the age limit be raised to 65 years is pending approval by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif. If approved, the policy will allow individuals over 65 to be eligible for employment in various federal ministries, agencies, and divisions, enhancing their ability to contribute their expertise.
In support of this initiative, Prime Minister Sharif has established a special committee led by Finance Minister Mohammad Aurangzeb, tasked with overseeing the implementation of this policy change.

The adjustment aims to enhance the efficiency and capabilities of federal institutions by enabling the recruitment of technically skilled and talented professionals who were previously restricted by age limitations.
The proposed change departs from the policies set by the previous administration under Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, which established a different age limit for government job eligibility. This move reflects the current administration’s commitment to leveraging the experience and skills of older professionals to improve government function.
