Pakistan and Russia are poised to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to bolster agricultural cooperation. The MoU aims to enhance the productivity of agricultural products and develop the local agriculture sector.
During a meeting that included Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain and Russian Ambassador Albert P Khuriev, the parties agreed that Russia would provide technical assistance to modernize Pakistan’s fertiliser manufacturing plants. This move is intended to increase fertiliser output and meet the local agricultural needs.
Minister Hussain underscored Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Russia, especially in trade and investment. He assured Russian investors of Pakistan’s support in enhancing bilateral trade and investment ties.
Furthermore, Hussain pointed out the necessity of modern agricultural machinery and other inputs to increase agricultural productivity. He said bilateral cooperation would lead to technology transfer, boosting productivity across various crops and livestock sectors.
Additionally, Ambassador Khuriev invited Pakistani agricultural experts to visit Russia and collaborate with their Russian counterparts to improve crop yields per acre. He also confirmed Russia’s commitment to supply modern agricultural machinery to Pakistan, supporting the growth and development of its agricultural sector.
