Pakistani paramilitary forces on Tuesday killed 15 separatist insurgents and lost one of their own men during a gun battle in a remote southwestern area, officials said.
The clash took place at Basima, some 240 kilometres (150 miles) southwest of Quetta, the capital of restive Balochistan province which is rife with a tribal insurgency, Taliban attacks and sectarian violence.
“At least 15 miscreants were killed during a clash with security forces,” a spokesman for Frontier Corps told the media.
“An FC soldier was martyred and three others were wounded in the fighting,” the official said.
Local intelligence and administration officials confirmed the clash and casualties.
An intelligence official said that the militants belonged to Baloch Liberation Front which has been carrying out attacks on security forces and government installations in the province bordering Iran and Afghanistan.
