The National Transmission and Dispatch Company (NTDC) has committed to providing a continuous power supply throughout Ramadan, expected to start in mid-March. This initiative follows the instructions of Managing Director Engr Dr. Rana Abdul Jabbar Khan, emphasizing the execution of a thorough maintenance program for NTDC’s transmission lines and grid stations to ensure an uninterrupted electricity supply.
An NTDC spokesperson revealed that the maintenance program includes cleaning, washing, and replacing Disc Insulators, among other critical tasks. These measures aim to enhance the reliability of the transmission lines and grid stations, which is crucial for maintaining the power supply during Ramadan.
The maintenance efforts have led to shutdowns in the south region, affecting 500kV and 220kV transmission line circuits. These shutdowns facilitated essential maintenance activities like insulator cleaning, hardware tightening, and replacing disc insulators with RTV-coated variants across different phases.
The NTDC’s General Manager (Asset Management-South) oversees this maintenance program, with Managing Director Khan commending the transmission line divisions for their efforts. He has called for the timely completion of the maintenance work, underlining its importance in ensuring reliable power supply during the upcoming Ramadan.
