The Minister for Climate Change Zahid Hamid earlier today said that no LNG (Liquified Natural Gas) terminal is being constructed in Bundel Island, Karachi as of now.
Responding to a Calling Attention Notice, moved by Senators Sherry Rehman, Karim Ahmed Khawaja and Taj Haider, he said three LNG terminals are being constructed in Karachi, while one LNG terminal have already been completed which is away from the residential areas.
The Chair referred the matter of the construction of LNG terminals to the Standing Committee on Climate Change for further perusal and investigations. Before constructing the terminal effects on environment were evaluated. The terminal construction posing no danger to defence infrastructure.
