Nicolas Cage, known for being one of the most eccentric actors in Hollywood, recently disclosed an unsettling detail from his time filming ‘Renfield’ for which he plays the iconic villain, Dracula. During filming, Cage unintentionally drank his own blood, as if he was Dracula.
The actor offered the anecdote during a Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything) alongside his co-star, Nicholas Hoult.
A fan asked whether he drank real blood while filming ‘Renfield.’ Cage responded with a touch of playfulness, saying, “The fangs were genuine; they were ceramic and quite pointy. So I did bite my lip a few times, which made me drink my own blood.” Hoult added, “I kind of like the taste of my own blood.” Cage then answered the question: “There’s something warm and fuzzy about it.”
Directed by Chris McKay, ‘Renfield’ is based on the life of Dracula’s henchman and will be released on April 14 this year.
The movie’s plot revolves around Renfield’s attempts to escape from Dracula, played by Nicolas Cage. Renfield’s job is to put victims on a platter and follow the orders of his ‘boss.’
Cage’s disclosure adds to the long list of extraordinary anecdotes from Hollywood movie sets.
