The National Information Technology Board (NITB), in collaboration with the Ministry of Human Rights (MoHR), has introduced an innovative online application designed to help parents of differently abled children connect more effectively with educational opportunities and resources.
This initiative aims to integrate approximately 30,000 out-of-school differently-abled children into the educational system. The application facilitates the selection of appropriate educational institutions close to the children’s residences, allowing for online applications and reducing the need for physical visits.
Additionally, the app provides detailed information about the services and facilities available at the DGSE’s centres and institutes and at the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) schools that support inclusive education.
In a related development, the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) announced its plans to establish four parks specifically designed for differently-abled citizens throughout the city last year. Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab made this announcement through a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.
During a meeting at the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPD), Mayor Wahab affirmed KMC’s dedication to improving the quality of life for people with disabilities. He stated that the DEPD would manage these parks to ensure they are developed into fully accessible recreational spaces.
