The National Cyber Crimes and Investigation Agency’s regulations have been annulled, and its responsibilities have been delegated to the Cyber Crime Wing of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
Reports from Islamabad indicate that the decision to annul the agency’s laws stemmed from its incomplete infrastructure.
Officials note that these laws will be reinstated once the agency’s framework is fully established.
Following this restructuring, the FIA Cyber Crime Wing now handles cases previously managed by the National Cyber Crimes and Investigation Agency.

Additionally, the FIA Cyber Crime Wing has been empowered to address crimes occurring on social media platforms.
The National Cyber Crimes and Investigation Agency was established in 2023 to tackle social media crimes. However, its regulations were repealed due to the inability to appoint a permanent Director General, secure adequate staffing, and establish the necessary police stations and courts.
