After hearing prosecution witnesses’ and defendants’ statements and defense and prosecution arguments, an anti-terrorism court judge in Karachi central prison reserved his verdict on January 14.
The anti-terrorism court (ATC) indicted former Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rao Anwar and others in the Naqeebullah Mehsud murder case on March 25 last year.
Anwar is accused of participating in the murder of Naqeebullah and three other individuals during a fake police encounter in Karachi.
Mehsud was assassinated on January 13, 2018, in Karachi during a fake encounter allegedly orchestrated by Rao Anwar, the Malir district’s senior superintendent of police.
60 witnesses, including five eyewitnesses, Muhammad Qasim, Hazrat Ali, Sharoob Khan, Humayun, and Afsar Khan, testified during the lengthy trial.
