The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) will discontinue its website and introduce a mobile app instead.
During a workshop, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced the closure of NADRA’s Pak ID website. This shift to a mobile platform is to secure services against fraudulent activities involving creating fake identification documents.
Starting January 17, the NADRA website will be shut down due to concerns about fake sites exploiting personal data for misuse. Minister Naqvi noted that users, especially overseas Pakistanis, encountered difficulties scanning and uploading essential documents through the website.
The newly enhanced NADRA mobile app will now handle all services, including issuing national identity cards, NICOP, POC, B Form, FRC, and others, enabling citizens to manage identification procedures from home.
Mohsin Naqvi also shared plans to open three new NADRA regional centres in Azad Jammu, Kashmir, Gwadar, and Gilgit-Baltistan by March 31. These centres aim to improve interactions between NADRA officials and citizens, enhancing service delivery in these regions.
Additionally, NADRA intends to establish offices nationwide in 19 remaining tehsils by the end of March.
Recent allegations suggest that some police officials have misused online access to NADRA’s systems for real-time verification, exploiting sensitive data for personal gains.
Furthermore, under directives from Minister Naqvi, 24-hour passport processing counters have been established at NADRA Mega Centres in Karachi, with plans to extend this service nationwide.
