The National Counter Terrorism Authority (Nacta) has issued an alert for potential terrorist attacks coinciding with PTI’s march to Islamabad.
PTI is slated to commence its protests today and heightened security measures are in place across Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and several Punjab districts.
The alert follows reports from Nacta, which, based on “technical and human” intelligence, indicates that terrorists plan “major activities” in Pakistan’s major cities.
Sources also revealed that terrorists, having made “necessary preparations” in Afghanistan, crossed into Pakistan overnight between November 19 and 20. They are expected to establish bases in major cities.
Referred to by the government and military as Fitna-al-Khawarij, these terrorists might target PTI’s protests to serve their agendas, sources suggest.
Nacta has recommended that authorities maintain strict vigilance and enhance security protocols to thwart potential attacks.
