Four individuals, including former Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) lawmaker Mir Ghalib Khan Domki, his wife, and their seven-year-old grandson, were injured during an attempted robbery on Faizu Laro road in Sindh’s Shikarpur district on Sunday.
Mir Ghalib Khan Domki recounted that approximately 15-20 robbers attempted to intercept their vehicle near a police picket operated by Khanpur station personnel. Despite the threat, their driver chose not to stop, prompting the robbers to open fire. As a result, Domki, his wife, grandson Ali Nawaz Khan Domki, and guard Nadir Domki sustained gunshot wounds, while two other guards, Sallar Domki and Mehar Ali Domki, were fatally shot.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shikarpur Shahzaib Chachar verified the attack, noting that Domki, a chief Mukkaddim of the Giloee clan of the Domki tribe, was travelling with his family from Sukkur to Bakhshapur at the time.
Police responded quickly, transporting the injured to a hospital in Sukkur and sealing the area’s exit and entry points to apprehend the suspects. During the exchange, the guards’ retaliatory fire killed Nadir Mirani, a criminal with a Rs1 million bounty.
Zain-ul-Abideen, Domki’s nephew, confirmed that the former lawmaker’s condition was stable.
In response to the violent incident, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah requested a detailed report from Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Ghulam Nabi Memon. He expressed his condolences over the loss of life and his wishes for Domki’s rapid recovery. Additionally, he directed a thorough inquiry into the incident and called for swift action against the perpetrators.
