The Meteorological Department has forecast a mercilessly hot April for Karachi with the mercury expected to hit 40 Celsius.

According to Met Department, parts of Sindh will also face extreme heat in April with mercury crossing the 40°C mark in some areas.

It has forecast rains and thundershowers in the country including Lahore during Friday to Sunday.

According to a spokesman of Met office a westerly wave presently producing rains over Iran and Afghanistan is likely to enter Pakistan on Friday.

Under the influence of this weather system widespread rain thundershowers (with isolated heavy falls) and snowfall over the high mountains is expected in Malakand, Hazara divisions, Gilgit Baltistan & Kashmir on Friday evening to Sunday.

Heavy downpour may trigger landslides in the vulnerable areas of Upper KP GB & AJK.

Scattered rain thunderstorm is expected in Islamabad FATA KP and Upper Punjab during the week end.

Rain dust thunder showers are also expected at a few places of D.G.Khan, Multan, Faisalabad, Sahiwal and Lahore divisions on Saturday, Sunday, he added.
