In the recent documentary “Megan Thee Stallion: In Her Words,” Megan Thee Stallion acknowledged misleading the public about her relationship with Tory Lanez during a 2022 interview with Gayle King on CBS Mornings.
Previously, she had denied any romantic involvement with Lanez. This admission casts new light on their controversial past, especially following Lanez’s conviction for a 2020 assault in which he allegedly shot at Megan.
During the interview with Gayle King, Megan asserted there was no sexual relationship with Lanez. Yet, in her Amazon Prime documentary, she confessed to being unprepared for the question and misrepresented the truth. She clarified they had been intimate “once or twice,” typically when she was under the influence, but minimized the significance of these encounters.
Despite her revelation, Megan stressed that the details of their past encounters do not pertain to the assault incident, where she suffered physical and emotional harm. In that event, Lanez reportedly commanded her to “Dance” while pointing a gun at her, leading to his conviction and a ten-year prison sentence, now under appeal by his legal team.
Lanez’s defence scrutinises Megan’s disclosure, suggesting it might influence her credibility as a witness. Ceasar McDowell, CEO of Unite the People and Lanez’s representative, commented to TMZ, “Megan’s falsehood about her relationship with Tory undermines her reliability. Her trustworthiness on other matters is questionable if she can lie publicly.”
This development is pivotal in Lanez’s ongoing appeal and has sparked intense debate on social media. Critics argue Megan should have been transparent sooner, while supporters maintain that personal relationships never justify violence. Nonetheless, Megan’s decision to come forward with the truth has significantly impacted public perception and could influence future developments in this high-profile case.
