Maulana Fazlur Rehman, President of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) announced to file a reference against the Chief Justice and two other judges following a crucial meeting of opposition parties in Islamabad.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman called on the government to file a reference against the three judges involved in the Mubarak Second case. He further stated that the parties participating in the All Parties Conference (APC) would also file a reference against the Chief Justice and the other two judges. He urged the Supreme Court to review its decision, insisting on clarifying any ambiguities in the ruling to ensure that Ahmadis remain accountable under the constitution and law.
In the APC declaration, Maulana Fazlur Rehman stated that they would not remain silent on the Mubarak Second case decision. He accused the Supreme Court of facilitating Ahmadis in this case and claimed that the protection of the finality of Prophethood, as enshrined in the Pakistani Constitution, faces deliberate undermining.
He further mentioned another case before a different judge in the Supreme Court, where an Ahmadi’s bail was under consideration. In this instance, a three-member bench allowed Ahmadis to preach, which Maulana Fazlur Rehman believes violates the Constitution. He asserted that when the court permits Ahmadis to preach and distort the Quran, Muslims will not stand idly by.
During his address at the All Parties Conference on the Protection of the Honor of Prophethood, he stated that the Pakistani government has consistently been under pressure regarding Ahmadis. When the government fails to act under this pressure, he noted, the courts intervene. He highlighted that the Constitution of Pakistan declares Ahmadis outside the fold of Islam and that international forces backing them are increasing pressure on Pakistan. The APC, he said, rejects these attacks on Pakistan’s Islamic identity.
He added that the APC expresses deep concern over religious and economic matters and rejects the Supreme Court’s decision as unconstitutional, illegal, and un-Islamic. Furthermore, he announced that on September 7th, a clear course of action would be declared at Minar-e-Pakistan in Lahore, marking it as a “Day of Victory.”
